The company is one of the largest plantation groups in Sri Lanka having diverse group of businesses, with main lines of business interests in oil palm plantation, beverages, investments and financial services, real estate and leisure sectors. The Group currently manages more than 100,000 Ha comprising of areas under development and planted (both immature and mature), together with the required processing facilities. The rapid expansion of the plantation sector across various geographic regions has resulted in the introduction of various systems and excels to store transactional data which made MIS reporting cumbersome and inefficient. Accurate data analysis would help them analyze their operations more closely and provide tighter cost control. In the commodity business prices are standardized world over, therefore daily insight into your business operations would be a key criteria to increase your bottom line. MIS department collects data from various departments in excel sheet and prepares reports for the management on the same. Due to which they face following difficulties.

- Collection of data is a time consuming process and purely dependent on concerned person
- Chances of human error are more in current process Data currently provided are in different formats There is no repository or centralized database

The Solution
- An OBIEE and OBI Apps solution was implemented which linked to their current Oracle ERP system and created a centralized database for pulling data from other Oracle and non Oracle system. By implementing OBIEE and OBI Apps now data from different system is pulled out and stored in the centralized data warehouse and data mart. Reporting is carried out on top of data warehouse and data mart.
- ETL processes using Informatica are scheduled to extract financial data from Oracle ERP every night and load the transformed data into respective data warehouse and data marts.
- Now due to the availability of data from Oracle and various systems in data warehouse complex reporting requirement can be catered easily and analysis on historical data can be done.
- Canned reports which were required by management are scheduled as per their need i.e. weekly, monthly, yearly and delivered in their mail boxes in requested format viz pdf, MS excel, word , ppt.
- The Financial Analytics module from OBIEE Applications provided pre built standard reports and dashboard such as Balance sheet, Income statement, Cash flow, ratio analysis, AP/ AR Aging report, Variance analysis on Actual and Budget. Apart from this Nouvasys provided customized reports/dashboard catering to top management requirement.
